Welcome to the blog of the ACM chapter at Louisiana Tech University. This will be updated frequently to reflect our current projects, events and meetings.

We are active again! We just had a very successful first meeting where we met a lot of our freshmen and sophomores. We will from now on have meetings every other week starting the 28th. We would love to see you there!

The first meeting of the Winter quarter was held last Thursday, 11th December 2008 at Nethken Hall room number 140. In the meeting we announced our plans for this quarter including the programming competition, robotics projects and social activities. Here are some of the pictures from the meeting:

The main point of today’s meeting was to discuss about the basics of Android and iPhone programming.

The meeting started at 6:00 pm:

  • Introduction to objective C

  • Compiling objective C codes

  • A brief intro to object oriented programming

  • A brief intro to the programming environment, files used to write the code.

  • Hello World Example on the IPhone simulator

The meeting ended at 7:00 pm.

The next meeting will have more interactive programming workshop. ACM will try to arrange the meeting in the Mac Lab in Nethken Hall, so that people have access to the mac operating system. ACM will also try to invite Dr. Per Kjeldas to the meeting.
